Family & Children’s Services boasts a staff with over 160 years of combined clinical experience. With the addition of C. Albert Alvarez to the staff, we can increase that number by thirty-seven.
Albert brings thirty-seven years of clinical experience, including time at Bowen Center as a therapist in their substance abuse groups and at St. Joseph Hospital as the lead therapist for the inpatient floor and clinical supervisor for the outpatient floor. He comes to us highly credentialed. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor, Certified Group Psychotherapist, and Certified Clinical Supervisor.
Throughout his work in northeast Indiana, he has worked closely with several FCS therapists. “I first met Stephen, Connie, and Kris Haworth-Connerly,” he said. “I was very impressed with how FCS not only treats the clients, but how they treat the family – the family approach.” While he hoped to someday join the FCS family, job openings are not a regular occurrence here. “No one leaves here!” he said of our low therapist turnover. (We hope that holds true for Albert as well!)
His work at FCS will include substance abuse groups as well a caseload of mental health individuals and families. Outside of the office, he will represent FCS at Vincent Village through assessments and individual counseling, and at Hope House where he will lead psycho-education groups on substance abuse.
